 Wisconsin beats indiana

The Badgers pulled of a nice win for their last dual of the season. The match proved to be as exciting as it looked on paper. The Badgers won 21-13.

The match started at 133 lbs. Zach Tanelli was losing going into the third period but capitalized on a poor decision made by Hernandez from Indiana. Tanelli reversed Hernandez to his back and pinned him to start the dual.

Kyle Ruschell won 8-3 totally controlling every position throughout the entire match.

Tyler Turner avenged an earlier season loss tonight. He beat Coughlin 8-2. Turner wrestled as good as he has wrestled all season. There was no way he was going to get beat at his last home match as a Badger. If Turner wrestles as good in the next two weeks as he did tonight he is going to be an All American. Congratulations Tyler on an outstanding career.

Craig Henning suffered his second loss on the season, and his second loss to Becker from Indiana. Henning lost on the mat tonight, which is usually his strongest position. Becker scored a reversal in the second period and rode Henning for the rest of the 2nd period and the entire 3rd period. Henning lost 3-0

Jake Donar wrestled great tonight. He defeated Max Dean 3-0. Jake held excellent position during the entire match and used brilliant defense to turn a shot from Dean into his own takedown.

Mike Felling wrestled hard for 7 minutes, and for a time looked to be in the match, but he got a little out gunned by Perry from Indiana. Felling lost 20-10

Trevor Brandvold finally got back on the mat but suffered his second loss at the hands of Bennet. Trevor gave up three reversals during this match, similar to the last match Bennet beat him where Trevor gave up two reversals. Other than those reversals Trevor did a good job on his feet. With smarter riding Trevor will beat Bennet the next time they wrestle each other. Trevor lost 8-7.

Dallas Herbst gave up an early lead but tied the match in the third period. Two stalling calls against Everhart from Indiana gave Dallas a one point lead which he held on to until the match ended. Dallas won 5-4.

Kyle Massey nearly pinned Buuck several times during the match. Both of these heavyweights rode legs and attempted power halfs. There were several reversals going both ways in this match. It was fun to watch. In the end Massey won 13-6.

The last match of the night Collin Cudd took on Escobedo. Escobedo is one of the best 125lbrs in the Big Ten, and in the country. The match was close, Escobedo got an escape in the second period and rode Cudd out for the entire 3rd period. Cudd just couldn't quite escape. Cudd lost 2-0.

Now the Badgers will be getting ready for the Big Ten Tournament. The following week will be an intense training time. Individuals will look at refining their technique and spending time with the coaching staff to go over opponent strategies and work on any areas that need be.
