What an excited time for Wisconsin wrestling. Barry Davis and Madison just beat the Hawkeyes for the first time since 1966!! Way to go Badgers. Here at La Crosse we have just finished our dual season and we ended with a bang. Last night we defeated UW Eau Claire
32-10 at home. Eau Claire was 4-0 in the WIAC and in first place coming into last night dual.
It was a great win with some hard fought matches. It was also a great night to honor our 6 seniors who have won over 460 matches, 57 duals, 9 all-american honors, 7 academic all-american honors in their career here at UWL. I am very proud of this group and I owe a lot to them. Thank you very much Scott Dorn, Josh Passe, Jake Larsen, Jason Lulloff, Ross Needham and Jim Swanson.
The next phase of our marathon of a season is the WIAC. We are currently on mile 20 and we can see the finish line and we are feeling good. Our guys are starting to fine tune our workouts and recover from nagging injuries. We are in search of our 10 th straight WIAC team title and we take nothing for granted, it will be a dog fight. I feel with the 10 guys we put out there, we have a great opportunity to compete with anyone.
Our energy level and excitement here at UWL is on the rise.
I wish you and your teams the best as you prepare for the state tournament.
Just a reminder that we are hosting the WIAC on Feb. 18 th at Mitchell Hall. The wrestling starts at 10am and it would be a great opportunity to see the 19 wrestlers that will advance out of our tough conference to represent us at the NCAA tournament March 2-3 in Dubuque, Iowa.
