Schmalfeldt wins in big fashion! Not enough for Titans

The Badgers took on the Titans yesterday at the annual Wisconsin Coaches Clinic convention in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Badger wrestlers came out on top of the meet dropping only the heavyweight match. In very impressive fashion, Titan Justin Schmalfeldt came out on top of vastly oversized Jordan Hein.

Collin Cudd started the match at 125 for the Badgers against Chris Stratton. Collin came out with a very high pace, as he always does, and found the pin early in the second period.

At 133, Badger Zach Tanelli looked solid on top but couldn't convert any of his numerous tilts into pins. He teched Derek Koenig in the second period.

The Badgers earned major decisions in five of the next six matches- At 141 and 149 Kyle Ruschell and Ty Turner both had a string of takedowns late in the match to widen the gap against Justin Talbot and Paul Gretzinger.

Mike Metzger notched an 8-2 victory in a hard fought match against Dallas Moe in their 157lb battle.

At 164 and 174 Badger wrestlers Donar and Maciag both earned 11-1 victories, while Dallas Herbst managed to earn the Badgers their second pin of the match against Kyle Coleman.

Maybe the most exciting match of the day came when Oshkosh wrestler Justin Schmalfeldt stepped on the mat 70 pounds lighter than Jordan Hein of the Badgers. Justin wrestled very well throughout the match with several impressive takedowns including an inside trip which really got the crowd going. Justin also had several cradles locked up which he came close to converting into back points.
